Royal Hospital for Women

The Royal Hospital for Women is one of Australia’s foremost specialist hospitals for women and babies. Each year the RHW delivers more than 4,200 babies in the homelike environment of the birth center. All mothers are staffed by midwives, who provide prenatal, labor/delivery and postnatal care. They promote normal, active or water birthing.

We have met with a midwife during our "booking in" appointment last week. We went over a ton of information and left with 10+ brochures and a birthing book to read. I am looking forward to starting an exercise class and a "having a baby" class.
We will get a new midwife for our next appointment and should have her as our provider for the duration of the pregnancy and the delivery. She will also come to visit me once a day after the delivery, to help with the baby and check on my health. At first we were a bit uncomfortable with the idea of only having a midwife, not a doctor. However, the more we learn about this hospital the more comfortable we feel.

Nice picture:)
The more I hear about health care in Australia, the more I wonder why people are so up in arms about health care reform here.
How nice that the midwife will visit you everyday after delivery. It would make new mothers more confident.
