We got a letter in the mail saying that someone had sent us beef jerky... and that they needed to destroy it in case of contamination and disease. However, they did not tell us who sent it. They gave us 2 options: we can pay $42.50 and have the jerky sent back to the sender (whoever that might be) or let them destroy it for free. I am so sorry announce that the jerky will be no more....

I have to confess that I am "the Montana Jerky smuggler". I tried to sneak it by as a Christmas present for Tyler. I sent it separately so that no other presents would be lost. I'm sorry Tyler. Hopefully your other packages will arrive unharmed.
Ode to the Montana Jerky Smuggler
Tis the season for presents
all over the earth
Twas only some jerky
to provide Tyler some mirth
Through Aussieland customs
the Smuggler, she sent it
but CRIKEY, they caught her
and it was rejected
The Montana Smuggler
was forced to confess
The Jerky destroyed
to alleviate distress
The Smuggler's no Santa
that we now know
She needed a sleigh,
some reindeer and HO
BUT, tis the thought that counts
and the love in her heart
that prompted her action
right from the start
So in this season of giving
let us forgive the Smuggler
Twas the confession that stopped it
from getting any uglier.
No jerky for Tyler,
the American bloke
down under in Aussieland
far away from kinfolk

I just enlarged and read the notice. It says that they will dispose of the item in whatever way the see as fit. My guess is that they are going to be eating the jerkey.
I think from this day forward, we should call this "The Jerky Caper"!
