Parker Patrick Smith

We had two ultrasounds today! The first one was kind of a bust. It was scheduled by our doctor to look at Parker's growth. We were not given any photos... which was fine because they could not get a good picture of his face. They told us that Parker is of average size at 5 pounds 6 ounces.

The second ultrasound was this afternoon and was with Dr. Meriki (the researcher). It was in 4D and was lots of fun. Last time we met with Dr. Meriki, she could not get a good picture for her research because Parker would not stop moving. So this time, I poked and bugged him for an hour before the appointment so that he would be sleeping when it was time for his picture. That backfired because he positioned himself in a funny location with his hand right in front of his face.... so we only got a few good shots of his face. Plus, she still had a hard time getting good readings for her research even with him less active. Dr. Meriki also said that he was a good size at 5 pounds 4 ounces, putting him in the 49th percentile.

With both estimates being similar, we are feeling confident that my diet and excersise routines are doing the trick keeping him just right. We have another ultrasound set up during week 36... so at that point we will reassess and talk about a birth plan.

He looks all arms and legs and chubby enough to cuddle with. It looks like he has lots of dark hair like his mama did when she was born. It is so fun to get glimpses of little Parker.
He must have wondered why on earth his mama kept bugging him.

Look at all that hair!!! I never imagined such dark hair and it looks curly :). We are so glad everything is looking good - especially that little guy! Hello from Memphis. XO

Unfortunately, what you are seeing is not hair. It is just shadow. Dr. Meriki said that he has some hair on the back of his head and above his ears, but that it didn't look like he had much of anything on the top. In other words, he is sporting a skullet.

Even though Sean and Kelly had lots of hair, my other three had skullets also.

How amazing is that...what an incredible world we live in where you can get pics like those before Parker has even left the warmth and safety of his mother's womb! Still can't wait to meet him and cuddle him and smooch him and spoil him...
